Saint Mary School Welcomes New Students, Enrollment Up, Preschool is Full

Principal Anna O'Rourke with Nurse Linda on the First Day of School

It is the start of the 4th full week of school at Saint Mary School, Ridgefield, and Principal Anna O'Rourke couldn't be happier.  "We have had a great start to the year.  Our preschool is full, our Kindergarten-Grade 7 retention rate from last year was 97%, and our total enrollment is up 10% as compared to the start of the last school year," she says.

New students joined Saint Mary in Grades 8, 7, 6, 5, 3, 2, and K, along with each of the preschool programs.  "Our new families are settling in well. I have had the chance to speak with most of them, and they consistently tell me how welcomed they feel and how happy they are to be a part of the SMS family," says O'Rourke, who adds, "Our students come from twenty surrounding towns."  For the 2019-2020 school year, 66% of Saint Mary students reside in Ridgefield, 18% come from other towns in CT, and 16% come from towns in NY.
