Greydon Lumelleau, a grade 6 student at Saint Mary School Ridgefield with personal ties to Ukraine sprung to action when he learned about the country's plight. Lumelleau, a budding artist, quickly created a portfolio of art that is being sold at Audrey Road on Bailey Avenue.

Saint Mary School Ridgefield was recently awarded an innovation and leadership grant from Foundations in Education. Preschool teacher Stephanie Kyriacou was awarded her grant for "Science in Preschool" and will use the $750 to purchase a light table with accessories.

If you are Principal Anna O'Rourke, you tap into the creativity of two of your parents, Tricia Van Brakel and Allison Carballo. "We are so blessed at SMS to have an active parent community, even from a distance! We were all blown away by what they and their team put together, " said O'Rourke.

Grade 6 Saint Mary School students recently completed a "Creating Lucy" project in Social Studies. Students worked in groups and created a model of "Lucy", the collection of bones discovered in 1974 by American fossil hunter Donald Johanson.

It is the start of the 4th full week of school at Saint Mary School, Ridgefield, and Principal Anna O'Rourke couldn't be happier. "We have had a great start to the year. Our preschool is full, our Kindergarten-Grade 7 retention rate from last year was 97%, and our total enrollment is up 10% as compared to the start of the last school year," she says.
