Hi Saint Mary School Families!

My name is Allison Carballo, and I have the honor of serving as your Home School Association (HSA) co-President. I have been a part of the HSA Board since 2020, starting as Secretary, then moving to Vice President, and now I am in my second school year as co-President. The HSA Board is made up of some incredible people, and it is my privilege to work with them to help bring joyful experiences to the school community.

A little bit about me – My girls are Lillie in 7th grade and Rose in 4th. Lillie started at Saint Mary in Kindergarten, and Rosie in PK-3. Choosing to send our two daughters here is probably the best decision we have ever made. Our girls have flourished here under the guidance of highly qualified teachers and first-rate staff.

When Rosie and Lillie were just five and seven years old, I was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of Leukemia. One day, I dropped the girls at school in the morning and then didn’t come back for months due to suddenly receiving a diagnosis and being hospitalized for treatment. In my absence, Saint Mary teachers, staff, and parents eased my worries by looking out for my girls. Now, almost five years later, I am a three-time cancer survivor and continue to be surrounded by the support of this wonderful community.

Our family has been through a lot, and the SMS Community has been there with us, every step of the way. I feel that being part of the HSA helps me to give back, in some small way, to a place to which I feel so indebted. It feels right to do everything I can to support this unbelievable school.

By being part of this community, you too are part of a family - one that cares for you and your children and goes above and beyond. In turn, we hope that you will work with the HSA as a team by doing things like volunteering, donating funds and keeping up with our school activities through the newsletter and social media.

I am very excited for this school year, which also happens to be a Gala year! I have never been more proud to be part of a community than I am of Saint Mary School. If you see me around, please feel free to stop and say hello! I am also reachable if you want to get more involved or have any thoughts you would like to share! My email is allisoncarballo@gmail.com

Looking forward to sharing an amazing school experience!
