Announcement of new teachers for the 2023-2024 school year

Congratulations to Saint Mary School Class of 2022 student Mikayla Hanel, who received the St. Thomas Aquinas Award at the Breakfast of Champions hosted by Dr. Steven Cheeseman, Superintendent of the Diocese of Bridgeport Catholic Schools.

Greydon Lumelleau, a grade 6 student at Saint Mary School Ridgefield with personal ties to Ukraine sprung to action when he learned about the country's plight. Lumelleau, a budding artist, quickly created a portfolio of art that is being sold at Audrey Road on Bailey Avenue.

Saint Mary School Ridgefield was recently awarded an innovation and leadership grant from Foundations in Education. Preschool teacher Stephanie Kyriacou was awarded her grant for "Science in Preschool" and will use the $750 to purchase a light table with accessories.

Saint Mary School Librarian Mary Tappan is always on the hunt for a good idea. This summer she came across an innovative idea, known as StoryWalks®. StoryWalks® are a creative way to enjoy reading while spending time outdoors.

What do you do when you have a beloved annual event like the Saint Mary School Father-Daughter Dance and you are in the midst of a pandemic? If you are Principal Anna O'Rourke, you tap into the creativity of two of your parents, Tricia Van Brakel and Allison Carballo. "We are so blessed at SMS to have an active parent community, even from a distance! We were all blown away by what they and their team put together, " said O'Rourke.

Saint Mary School Principal Anna O'Rourke is pleased to announce a new member of her team, School Guidance Counselor Whitley Scharffs. Ms. Scharffs will provide classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, and individual counseling.

The Saint Mary School Advisory Board is pleased to announce a new member, Dr. Lourdes Maisonet.

She has incredible energy, her glass is ALWAYS half full, and she is passionate and dedicated to what she calls her Saint Mary School family - students and families past and present, teachers and staff, and friends of the school.

Saint Mary School has launched a new website, which includes a virtual tour and a look inside distance learning at SMS. "We decided to launch a little sooner than planned so that we can continue to tell our stories and inform both current and prospective families," says principal Anna O'Rourke.

Saint Mary School students, from Preschool-aged three all the way through Grade 8 have completed their first week of Distance Learning.

After nearly a year serving our country, Ridgefield dad surprises his 4-year-old daughter at Saint Mary School today

Students at Saint Mary School in Ridgefield recently celebrated "Dot Day" a global event that champions creativity, courage and collaboration.

The entire Saint Mary middle school recently spent the day at the Prospector Theater right here in Ridgefield. Students were given a tour of the facility, a screening of Prospect movies, and Q&A with staff members.

It is the start of the 4th full week of school at Saint Mary School, Ridgefield, and Principal Anna O'Rourke couldn't be happier. "We have had a great start to the year. Our preschool is full, our Kindergarten-Grade 7 retention rate from last year was 97%, and our total enrollment is up 10% as compared to the start of the last school year," she says.
