Ways of Giving
Gifts of Cash
Cash gifts are always welcome and allow us to further strengthen programs for the benefit of all students. A cash gift entitles the donor to an income tax deduction in the year of the gift. Please make check payable to “Saint Mary Fund” and send to

Gifts of Stock
Often, a stock gift can bring the donor greater tax savings than a cash gift. The donor avoids paying capital gains taxes on the donated stock and receives a charitable deduction for its full fair market value. As always, you should consult a tax professional with any questions.
Many companies match contributions that their employees make to non-profit institutions such as Sacred Heart. Most matches are on a 1:1 basis, but some companies match 2:1 or 3:1. Upon making your own gift, you may request your company to match it. Matching gift forms are usually available in your company’s human resources office.
Planned giving can provide some significant advantages in your tax, retirement and estate planning strategies. Options may include bequests, annuities, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, and life insurance. Please speak to your tax advisor and /or financial planner, and contact Director of Advancement Amy Dowding at 203.438.7288 x240.
